Break-even ACOS uses gross margin. Amazon fees, FBA, storage and returns eat into that, so real profit ACOS is usually a bit tighter than gross margin.

FAQ

Common questions

What is ACOS?

Advertising Cost of Sales is ad spend divided by ad revenue, expressed as a percentage. It tells you what share of your ad-attributed sales was spent on ads. Lower ACOS means more efficient ads.

What is TACOS?

Total Advertising Cost of Sales is ad spend divided by total revenue, ad-attributed plus organic. TACOS reflects the real weight of ads on the whole business, and is usually the healthier long-term metric on Amazon.

What is break-even ACOS?

Break-even ACOS is your profit margin percentage. If you make 30 percent margin on a product, an ACOS of 30 percent means you break even on ad-driven sales after ad cost. Below that you profit, above that you lose money on those sales.
